FAMILY FELLOWSHIP

Montreat Fall Family Weekend

Our annual October weekend gathering is a long-standing tradition dating back more than 20 years, with wonderful memories shared by members of our church. Montreat is the PCUSA Retreat Center located near Black Mountain, NC. Arriving on Friday, it is a great time to enjoy good food, hiking, rocking on the front porch, and shopping in Black Mountain. On Saturdays, some share the tradition of climbing Lookout Mountain for the spectacular view! On Saturday night, there is a big family dinner followed by family games (aka “The First Pres. Olympics”). The weekend concludes Sunday morning with a time of worship. Most important, it is a time for strengthening relationships within our church family. For more information contact the church office.

Advent Workshop – Held the first Sunday afternoon in Advent, this is wonderful time for families to gather and make craft-style decorations for the Christmas Season. Christmas music and treats help everyone get in the mood!

“Souper Bowl” Chili and Soup Cookoff

This is a Sunday full of incredible competition, nasty injuries, the agony of defeat and the joy of winning...and the Super Bowl is played that day, too! Seriously, our annual Souper Bowl Chili and Soup Cookoff is a wonderful family lunch held after church on Super Bowl Sunday. Chili, Soup, and Dessert are all provided by members of the congregation and make up the meal for our families. Each food category is judged by a panel of distinguished judges, and winners are immortalized on a plaque that hangs in the church kitchen! A donation is taken up by the youth after worship, with proceeds going to help local foodbanks and soup kitchens.

Christmas Dinner

Each year we have a church family Christmas dinner together in Hopkins Hall. Attire is Holiday nice casual, and the Fellowship Committee brings out the fine china. PK’s host a Live Nativity celebration during the dinner, and Santa often makes an appearance after dessert! The Christmas Dinner is held the third Sunday in December from 5:30- 7:00 pm.
