WORSHIP

“The church gathers to praise God, to hear God’s word, to baptize, and to join in the Lord ’s Supper. The church gathers to pray for and present the world to God in worship, to enjoy fellowship, to receive instruction, strength, and comfort, to be tested, renewed, and reformed.” - From The Confession of 1967

WORSHIP

Worship is at the heart of our church’s life. All that the church is and does is rooted in its worship. It is the principal influence upon our faith, and it is the most visible way in which we express it. Here, at First Presbyterian, we gather in worship as a response to God’s call that we may be formed, shaped, and nurtured by the Spiritual presence of Christ through the Word and Sacraments. It is this encounter that sustains our faith and builds us up as disciples of the One who is the source of all life. In turn, we are empowered to serve Christ in the world and our community as an expression of our love and commitment to God.

We gather on Sunday at 11:00am in the Sanctuary for worship during the School Year.

Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month
(except for January and the month of Easter).

Special services are held to commemorate certain events within the church year.

  • A Christmas Eve service is held each year at 5:00 pm.
  • An Ash Wednesday service is held at 6:00 pm on the first Wednesday of Lent.
  • A Maundy Thursday service is held at 6:30 pm the Thursday prior to Easter.

We also gather for Sunday School at 10:00 am each Sunday during the school year. (Sunday school classes usually pause for the summer break.) If you would like to learn more about our Faith Formation opportunities, click here: Adults or Children & Youth.
