Caring Ministries

“But we were gentle among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children. So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us.”

The Apostle Paul, First Thessalonians 2: 7b-8

The caring ministries of First Presbyterian Church are available to assist the members of our congregation in meeting the needs of daily life, providing comfort and care in times of need, and prayer for any and all concerns. To follow is a list of ministries within our church that are here for you. This is just a small part of how we nurture and care for one another.

Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry is a confidential ministry who communicates to the Session and Diaconate member prayer requests from church members. Members of the church are encouraged to reach out to the Prayer Team leader when a prayer request is needed. An email is then sent to those who have agreed to serve on the Prayer team so that they can include the request in their daily prayers. Updates on each request are provided by the minister or the team leaders on a frequent basis.

Visitation Ministry

Each of us needs in our life some encouragement, comfort, and a sense of belonging. We especially understand that on occasion it is difficult for some of our members to come to church on a regular basis. This ministry is designed to remind our church and its members that every member matters, and that no one should ever feel alone. Members of our visitation teamwork with our pastor to make sure that this ministry of compassion, which was so important to Christ, continues among us today.

Congregational Care

Congregational Care is here to support our church family during both difficult times and times of joy. This ministry provides meals to members and their family during a long term illness, a recent surgery or hospitalization, or at the birth of a newborn child. A meal or a reception is offered on the day of a memorial service to support our families in times of loss and bereavement. For members who are married at the church, this ministry offers a bridal brunch the morning of the wedding.

Fix-it Ministry

The Fix-it Ministry is here to help! Our crew of able-bodied folks are available to take care of the little things and the big things that members may need around the house. From changing filters or light bulbs to fixing garage doors and leaky toilets we have the skill, the will and the time.
